Birthday Oh

Today my wonderful hubby and I celebrated my birthday ending in a "0" by seeing The Pursuit of Happiness (no relation to the Will Smith movie) at the Hippodrome Theater in Gainesville, FL.

Multitalented fellow paint out artist Mel Peter had a most impressive exhibit of portraits and figures on exhibit at the Hippodrome. She accompanied each painting with a quotation from "Theories and Documents of Contemporary Art, " published in 1996 by California Press. Sounds stuffy, but it wasn't. Rather it added intrigue and added contemplation to the artwork.

We also got to visit with Ellie Blair (see previous posts) in her downtown studio.

We dined on tapas at Emiliano's, a wonderful and always busy bistro. All in all a most fabulous birthday finale! (We have been celebrating since our family cruise in March!)

This post is a test of postdating the publication date. If it works, more on Jack Thursby's workshop will magically appear next week while I'm at Sapelo and away from the Internet.

fingers crossed

Nancy- Happy Birthday ( or birth months if you celebrated since March )
You've been industrious and relentless in your painting and I see, not slowing down.

I've been viewing Sharons' work too and you are both in such good company.

I'm mid-workshop, and have 4 house guests!
I'll post when it's over and look forward to what you add to your blog.

Hi Bonnie and Jo. Thank you for the birthday wishes!
The paint out was great, but left little time to post. I am just now back from Sapelo Island, where I could not post, but did journal offline for the time being....so much to do....
Bonnie, I'm betting you had time to experience every possible emotion. I know I did both during the paint out and again the following week.
My wonderful husband has been very patient; I've essentially been "gone" for 2 weeks. So now, girls, I am slowing down at least on the painting part.
I'll be checking in on both your blogs. nancy
